One thing is for sure, Scarborough Open Air Theatre was not only blessed with superb weather but also a fantastic line up. On the final night of the summer programme, there was no better way to spend the final night than with Manchester band james. Since reforming in 2007 the band have gone from strength to strength and the EP entitled ‘Better Than This” released in may of this year reached number one proving that they still have a huge following.

In a big furry jacket front man Tim Booth danced his way though hits old and new in his own unique stye with the older hits like ‘Sit Down’ proving to be aa popular as ever. Coming down the steps on song three he climbed onto the barrier to sing to the fans and get more up close and personal. I waited for the trademark crowdsurfing to happen but for some reason we weren’t treated to this on this occasion. There is no doubt that there is something about Scarborough open Air theatre that makes these gigs feel very intimate.

Tim Booth manages to whip the crowd into a frenzy with his wild dance moves, and for a band that have been around as long as they have there is no shortage of material they can perform. There was a great mixture of old and new especially form their their new album ‘Living In Extraordinary Times’ which if you haven’t heard you can see our review on their 15th studio album here https://www.totalntertainment.com/news/james-living-in-extraordinary-times-album-review/

James were also supported by fellow Mancunian Badly Drawn Boy and Essex born Get Cape, Wear Cape. Fly. The supporting artists managed to keep the crowds well entertained on this final warm summer evening in Scarborough.

I cannot wait to see the line up for next year at the Open Air theatre, with the stunning line up that they have had this year, one thing is certain it is going to be a tough act to follow..
