AURORA has joined Emmy® Award-winner composer Bear McCreary for ‘Morning Shall Come’, a new song written for the third season of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power. The track will be released on the 6th November, with an official video premiering exclusively on Amazon Music before arriving on AURORA’s YouTube on Monday 9th November. Listen to the song here.
‘Morning Shall Come’ accompanies the story of Galadriel and Celeborn, played by Morfydd Clark and Jamie Campbell Bower. An official music video will premiere exclusively on Amazon Music. Filmed as a performance, it takes us from Sky Studios in London to the treetops of Rivendell.
AURORA comments, “I’ve loved the Tolkien universe since I read his books as a child. The Lord Of The Rings has been such a huge part of my life. Being a part of this ancient story is such an honour. To shed light on the good behind any evil, and the evil behind any good. Working with the team, and Bear on this has been an adventure in itself. I am very very grateful!”
The collaboration arrives in a year that has taken AURORA back to the beginnings of her musical world. In September, she marked the tenth anniversary of her debut album, All My Demons Greeting Me as a Friend, with The Moth Tapes: a collection featuring its previously unreleased title track, alongside demos and alternative versions from the album’s early days.
AURORA’s Runaway is experiencing another global viral resurgence, breaking back into the Spotify Top 200 Songs global chart for the first time in 5 years. AURORA’s monthly listeners have also peaked to 20 million, lifting her back into the Top 500 most listened to artists in the world. The song’s resurgence has been driven by multiple high-growth markets like India, Indonesia, and Mexico; and Runaway is currently the highest streaming song from a Western artist in Nigeria.
The complete soundtrack will be available on all digital and streaming platforms on November 13, with preorders for vinyl and compact disc opening the same day through Mutant Records. An expanded digital collector’s edition will follow at a later date.
Across the season’s score, McCreary continues to expand the series’ musical world, drawing on choirs, folk instruments and Tolkien’s fictional languages. The soundtrack features performances from The Mystery of the Bulgarian Voices, Finland’s Mieskuoro Huutajat, Jens Kidman of Meshuggah, and The Rings of Power cast members Sophia Nomvete and Morfydd Clark.
