Singer, songwriter and musician Cruz Beckham releases new single ‘Seeing Red’, listen HERE. This is the second track to be released from Cruz’ upcoming debut EP Wear & Tear, due for release on August 21st and available to pre-save HERE.
‘Seeing Red’ delivers big riffs, big vocals, and big energy. Cruz and The Breakers perform with fervour, as lyrics embody the EPs ethos of showcasing your true self, and leaving it all out there, whether on the stage or in the crowd.
Speaking on the single, Cruz says; “Seeing red is a comedic take on a totally unserious moment of frustration, in this case in sports. Everyone’s competitive nature likes to take over now and then, but it’s all fun and games. Seeing red is a nod to that exact turning point.”
Recorded alongside his band The Breakers, the upcoming EP was produced in its entirety by Justin Raisen and Lewis Pesacov (Kim Gordon, Joji, Charli XCX). Featuring six all new tracks, it was crafted with live shows in mind, ahead of Cruz’ inaugural US tour this summer, and festival slots including Reading & Leeds, Rock N Roll Circus and Lollapalooza.
‘Seeing Red’ follows the EPs first single, the title track ‘Wear & Tear’. This saw Cruz Beckham capture the heart of what the EP is about. Opening with bright, resonant guitar strums, Cruz’s melodic vocals detail how experiencing life to its fullest and connecting with people is the most important thing you can do. Psychedelic-edged riffs build to an energetic chorus, perfectly formed to be sung with a crowd.
Speaking on the EP, Cruz says: “Wear & Tear is synonymous to a life lived and all your life experiences so far – the good and the bad, the learning curves, and everything in between. No matter how different every human experience is, we all have had at least a few similar emotions that make us all human. We’ve been high, and low, in love and in pain, jealous, upset – we’ve lived and learned. We’ve all got our wear and tear.”
The EP announcement and the release of the title track ‘Wear & Tear’ followed recent releases ‘Yeah Yeah Yeah’, a lighthearted live-show favourite, ‘Waste Your Pain’ alongside a coming-of-age classic Risky Business inspired music video, and ‘For Your Love’, the song that acted as Cruz, Justin and Lewis’ eureka moment in the studio, acting as the sonic cornerstone that formed his musical identity. All following Cruz’s debut single ‘Optics’ released alongside ‘Lick The Toad’ earlier this year, marking the beginning of Cruz’s long-awaited musical journey.
