Today, Danny Goffey releases new track ‘Ancient Text’ on Distiller Records.

Co-produced by long-time collaborator Simon Byrt at The Distillery in Somerset, ‘Ancient Text’ vehemently challenges what Danny describes as the “outdated rules of conduct” of warring religions across the world. Set to a thunderous riff that draws on the vibrance and immediacy of Danny’s back catalogue. It also exudes a fresh, contemporary flair. The track embodies the zeitgeist in calling for a more tolerant society in the face of the developing world.

Speaking about the track, Danny says: “The inspiration behind ‘Ancient Text’ is all around us, in the news every day. It is inescapable. Every day a terrible event happens in the name of religion, and it’s heartbreaking when innocent people are caught up in the destruction. Give up the Ancient Text.”

Best known as the drummer and songwriter of seminal British trio Supergrass, Danny Goffey’s influence on British rock music has been cited by the likes of Muse and Stereophonics. His debut solo album ‘Take Your Jacket Off & Get Into It,’ released under the moniker vangoffey, included collaborations with Babyshambles’ Drew McConnell and Rialto’s Louis Eliot. It garnered huge acclaim from the likes of NME, Q and UNCUT. Expect more of Danny’s uncompromising brand of rock and roll mastery in 2018.
