Australian singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and producer Scott Von Ryper is already known for co-founding the Australian duo The Black Ryder with Aimee Nash and being a touring member of the iconic Scottish group The Jesus and Mary Chain.  His debut solo album “Dream State Treasure” is out now via tran-si-ent records and Silver Door Music.

Following the launch of singles ‘The Devil’s Son’,  and ‘Over And ‘Over’  today you can check out the album track ‘Pulse’ about which Von Ryper said “I’ve always loved the combination of acoustic guitar layered with really distorted guitars, especially with open tunings. Pulse is in many ways a sonic outlier on the album given its use of more modern sounds like the drum machine and synth, plus the pace of it, but lyrically I felt like it fit the record and I’ve always loved the idea of having a few surprises on an album”

‘Dream State Treasure’ was primarily recorded and mixed in Von Rypers’ home studio between 2018 – 2020.  He utilized the break from touring, and the isolation of 2020 to explore sonic themes that he had experimented with early in his career when still recording on a 4-track.  Now producing them on a much grander scale, he played most of the instruments, recorded, produced, and mixed the majority of the album himself with additional input from Los Angeles engineer Norm Block, who also played drums.

On finishing the album, Von Ryper said, “When the pandemic hit in March 2020 and my whole touring year got canceled, I knew that this was my opportunity to really finish the album, so I set a date for myself and pretty much stuck to it. I knew that if I didn’t do it now, I’d lose faith in my ability to do it at all.”

He will be touring as part of The Jesus And Mary Chain next month in the following towns:
