Critically acclaimed rock group EELS have today shared their brand new track ‘Congratulations To Me’. It offers the latest glimpse into their forthcoming 16th studio album, COOKIE HAPPENED, arriving on 16th October. Listen here. Pre-order here.

On ‘Congratulations To Me’, E (Mark Oliver Everett) reflects on reaching a point where it’s time to stop taking certain things so seriously.

He explains: “This is someone who has reached a breaking point and is celebrating it, but not in a defeated way, more of a ‘why did I care about stuff that doesn’t matter that much, I’m finally liberated’ way. Or something.”

‘Congratulations To Me’ is the fourth offering from COOKIE HAPPENED, following the previously released ‘Cap In Hand’, ‘All Forgotten’ and ‘I’m On Standby’. Together, the four tracks begin to paint a picture of an album that finds E turning his gaze toward life’s small victories, inevitable disappointments and the strange miracle of having been here at all.

COOKIE HAPPENED follows 2024’s critically acclaimed EELS TIME!, which saw EELS continuing their remarkable late-career run with a collection of songs that balanced reflection, humour and hard-won optimism. With its latest offering, EELS once again demonstrates that few artists are better at finding meaning in life’s messiest moments.

EELS have enjoyed one of the most consistently acclaimed and distinctive careers in modern music. The ever-evolving project of singer, songwriter and producer E (Mark Oliver Everett), EELS have released a remarkable body of work since their 1996 debut Beautiful Freak, combining heartbreak, humour, curiosity and emotional honesty in a catalogue that continues to resonate with audiences worldwide. Ahead of the release of COOKIE HAPPENED, fans can also revisit that celebrated catalogue as, for the first time ever, the definitive Meet The Eels: Essential EELS Vol. 1 (1996–2006) is available on vinyl.

[PIAS] have also announced details of a 30th anniversary edition of Eels’ debut album, Beautiful Freak. Serving as the genesis for a legendary career, the album captures Eels at the very beginning of their journey. Blending alternative rock, lo-fi charm, and melancholic pop across twelve foundational cuts, it features iconic early singles like ‘Novocaine for the Soul’ and ‘Susan’s House’. This edition comes with an extended deluxe tracklist featuring non-album tracks never before released on vinyl and will be released on 13th November 2026.
