With her recent single ‘Getting Out’, Flora Fiora enjoyed two spotlight moments with a KOKO Studio Session and airplay from BBC Introducing. Now the indie-pop singer-songwriter steps up a gear as she shares the follow-up, ‘Mad In The Head’. Both songs will feature on her new EP which will follow later this year – her first under a new deal with Right Tracks, the new boutique label and publishing venture from legendary Chrysalis co-founder Chris Wright. Listen HERE.
Flora Fiora describes herself as “overly emotional and a tad extroverted,” so naturally her songwriting allows her to explore the feelings that she otherwise wouldn’t discuss. That’s something which inspired ‘Mad In The Head’, a song about having to face up to your self-conscious telling you that a supposed friend is actually anything but.
Flora Fiora’s vocal is both flamboyantly thrilling and huskily blues-like, while the song amplifies that emotion by rising from tense, nervy verses into a dynamic indie-pop hook that unleashes that doubt and runs for the hills.
Flora Fiora says, “Mad In The Head explores a side of my music I think I’m yet to show. I always want to show the most vulnerable and emotive side of myself and I feel that comes through with this song. I’m really looking forward to my music going in this direction…I think we’re in for an emotional rollercoaster over the next few weeks!”
Her music draws inspiration from iconic female artists, such as the energy of Olivia Rodrigo, the drama of Florence + The Machine, and the storytelling of Taylor Swift. While her music is diverse, moving from sparse indie-folk into full-throttle pop-punk, her charisma always shines through, her natural larger-than-life personality further heightened by a background in theatre. She’s clearly one to watch, and her reputation is sure to flourish as further new music is unveiled in the near future.
That magnetic personality becomes effervescent in the live area, whether she’s performing solo or with her band. Her upcoming shows are:
