Priya Ragu recently added to the heat generated by her first two singles ‘Good Love 2.0’ and ‘Chicken Lemon Rice’ by releasing her current track ‘Forgot About’. Premiered on Radio 1 as Annie Mac’s First Play, ‘Forgot About’ extended her rising star status, with highlights including a spread of key streaming support across Spotify and Apple Music, and a Spotlight Artist set at this year’s virtual Great Escape.

The biggest news of all was confirmation of Priya’s debut European headline tour, which includes a London show at the Jazz Café and will culminate with a homecoming show in Zurich a week later. Priya today builds anticipation for the tour by sharing a new ‘Live From The Archive’ performance of ‘Forgot About’.

Following on from the shimmering energy of the previous ‘Live From The Archive’ session of ‘Good Love 2.0’, this take on ‘Forgot About’ demonstrates a remarkably different angle to Priya’s ability as a live performer. She exudes yearning and soul, yet her vocal also possesses world class control with pitch-perfect finesse. The performance is further inspired by an evocative string quartet, but ultimately it’s an intimate affair supported only by keys, vocals and subtle harmonies.

‘Forgot About (Live From The Archive)’ (again directed by Dumas Haddad) also reflects Priya’s visual aesthetic with a set design and styling that’s rich with colourful nods to her Tamil heritage. It contrasts with the stark setting of The Archive, an industrial space turned creative hub in Tottenham.

Priya commented, “It felt like I was floating while recording this version of ‘Forgot About’ with a string quartet. It gives the song a whole new angle and takes you to another place. I especially loved the set design so much, I remember seeing it for the first time I was thinking to myself a Puja (Puja is a ritual/ceremony for the Hindu Goddess) is about take place!”

This summer will deliver another landmark moment for Priya when she guest vocals on the Jungle track ‘Goodbye My Love’, which features on their upcoming third album ‘Loving In Stereo’ (out in August). The album represents the first time the iconic UK production duo have worked with guest vocalists, with Priya being one of just two featured artists who have contributed to the record.
