Fuzzy Sun, New Single

Fuzzy Sun release ‘A Modern Kind of Blue’

Despite every note chiming with optimism, the single affords the band a rare moment of emotional introspection with lyrics laying bare the pain of heartbreak.

FUZZY SUN paint on sunny smiles and spin the dusty glitterball of defiance with the release of bittersweet, new single A MODERN KIND OF BLUE is out now via Very Clever Records. Backed with the digital b-side, SORRY, HONEY, the fizzing five-piece also take the opportunity to switch on the light at the end of the lockdown tunnel and announce a series of four, rearranged UK dates for September 2020

Now holding out to play some of their biggest shows to date, including a Manchester homecoming at city’s Academy 2, Fuzzy Sun’s prolific writing and recording rate has only been slowed by the global health crisis, rather than stalled. Like a landslide of creativity, A Modern Kind Of Blue follows the surprise release of recent single, Warm Nights, with b-side, Don’t Play The Fool, keeping theirs and fans’ spirits high in testing times.

Despite every note chiming with optimism, the single affords the band a rare moment of emotional introspection with lyrics laying bare the pain of heartbreak. An anthem of timely resilience, the band cryptically describes the track in the following simple terms: “Sentimental. Nostalgia. Suspicion. Retrospect. Toxic. Birth. Love. Death. Persistence. Melancholic. Ambivalence.”

Despite curtailed springtime plans to hit the road and their current, imposed separation, Fuzzy Sun’s  2020 started explosively, touring with Inhaler through February and March, taking in six towns and cities across Europe. Ready to pack up and do it all again at a moment’s notice, Fuzzy Sun’s next feel-good live performances must instead contribute to the soundtrack of a resurgent, UK live music scene this autumn.

The current line-up of Fuzzy Sun’s ‘post-lockdown tour’ UK dates are as follows, with tickets on sale now via links at www.fuzzysunband.com

  • Sat 12 Sep London, Omeara
  • Wed 16 Sep Nottingham, The Bodega Social Club
  • Thu 17 Sep Glasgow, The Garage (Attic Bar)
  • Fri 18 Sep Manchester, Academy 2

Borrowing their mantra from Snarky Puppy, Fuzzy Sun ‘make music for both brain and booty’. Frontman, Kyle Ross, bassist, Lewis Jobson, drummer, Mitch Bancroft, keys player, George Fitzgibbon and guitarist, Raffaele Pani remain unmoved in Fuzzy Sun’s ongoing mission to radiate their good vibes on the music world.

Praise for the band includes NME touring Fuzzy Sun as one of their Top 100 Essential Artists for 2019 as well as picking up the City Life Award for Best Breakthrough Act. Fuzzy Sun have appeared on major festival stages including The Great Escape and supported Blossoms at their historic, sold out hometown stadium show at Stockport County’s Edgeley Park in July 2019.
