2026 is shaping up to be a remarkable year for the Gipsy Kings featuring Tonino Baliardo, with the new album ‘Historia’ coming out on May 29th, a brand new feature-length documentary now being available, and plenty more international dates to come. Now they extend that positive run with a final preview of the record with the new single ‘Caballero’. Listen HERE.
While the ‘Historia’ album spans a spectrum of varying moods and emotions, ‘Caballero’ represents the band at their life-affirming best – all hip-shaking rhythms, runaway energy, and Tonino Baliardo’s infectious virtuoso guitar work. It’s a song of such life-affirming fervour that it can take its place in their catalogue amongst previous classics such as ‘Bamboléo’, ‘Volare’’ and ‘Djobi, Djoba’.
Tonino says, “Cabellero track is something completely different to songs I have written in the past. Whist in the studio with the GK they decided to play act as cowboys and bandits because of the American Country/Western feel..”
‘Caballero’ follows the release of the documentary ‘Tonino Balliardo Featuring The Gipsy Kings’ documentary which is now available on Amazon Prime and has already reached #1 on Amazon Music Documentaries. It tells Tonino’s full remarkable story: a Romanigypsy guitarist from Catalan musical lineage who is discovered by Brigitte Bardot while busking on the beaches of Saint-Tropez, forms the Gipsy Kings, and turns a marginalised culture into a global music phenomenon.
All pre-orders from the band’s official store will be entered into a competition to win a guitar signed by Tonino Baliardo and the Gipsy Kings, while Amazon offer an exclusive signed gold vinyl format.
Gipsy Kings featuring Tonino Baliardo have just started the European leg of their ‘Historia’ tour, which continues across Germany and Switzerland for the remainder of the month.
