KYLIE, a new three-part documentary exploring the life and legacy of global pop icon Kylie Minogue, is available to watch now on Netflix.

Kylie has also unveiled a brand new original song, Light Up, created especially for the docu-series and featured in the final episode.

A euphoric, stadium-sized pop anthem about love and human potential, ‘Light Up’ captures the transformative feeling of being truly seen by someone who recognises your potential, even in moments of loss, hurt or uncertainty.

The song first began to take shape in 2023, when Kylie wrote its opening lines: ‘If a light were to shine every tear that I cried, a million stars would be shining tonight.’ Later, during filming for the documentary, producer John Battsek asked Kylie if she would consider writing an original song for the project. From that conversation, ‘Light Up’ was born.

Discussing the new track, Kylie says: “The first phrase of the song came to me as I was thinking about how magical it is when someone who truly loves you can see a world of possibility in you and recognise your potential, even when you’re feeling lost or hurt. I shared the seed of the idea with Chris Martin over the phone, and ten minutes later he sent me a voice note with some chord and melody ideas for those few lines.

I wrote the rest of the lyrics in moments between rehearsals and touring and everything else. Then followed a few studio sessions with Biff (Richard Stannard), Duck (Mark Blackwell) and Luke Fitton to finish the song ready for the documentary. I wanted it to be full of heart, emotion, hope and euphoria.”

KYLIE explores one of music’s most enduring icons, tracing a remarkable career that has seen Kylie consistently reshape pop culture while selling more than 80 million records worldwide. Kylie opens her personal archives and reflects on a life that has captivated, inspired and soundtracked multiple generations. Drawing on home movie footage, personal photographs and candid new interviews with Kylie herself, the series reveals the woman behind the hits and explores how she has navigated public scrutiny, personal loss and illness with resilience, warmth and grace – earning admiration far beyond her devoted fanbase.

Directed by Emmy and BAFTA Award-winning filmmaker Michael Harte (Three Identical Strangers, Still: A Michael J. Fox Movie, BECKHAM) and produced by VENTURELAND, the acclaimed team behind THE DEEPEST BREATH, WHAM! and BECKHAM, the series features insights from friends, family and longtime collaborators: Dannii Minogue, Jason Donovan, Nick Cave and Pete Waterman.
