An unexpected second chapter in the Haircut One Hundred story gathered pace last year when their irresistible first single in forever, ‘The Unloving Plum’, became Radio 2’s Record of the Week. It was soon followed by the feelgood fervour of ‘Dynamite’ – all classic disco guitar hooks, rousing brass and jazzy flourishes. Now they release ‘Come Back To Me’, which was premiered by Gary Davies this morning on The Radio 2 Breakfast Show. All three tracks feature on their long-awaited new album ‘Boxing The Compass’, which follows on June 19th via Map of England Records.
Haircut One Hundred’s original smash hits ‘Fantastic Day’, ‘Love Plus One’ and ‘Favourite Shirts (Boy Meets Girl)’ were all defined by an irresistible joyfulness, and ‘Come Back To Me’ continues in that style but with a fresh, vibrant energy. Mega hooks, playful melodies and buoyant brass all bring blissful mid-summer vibes. And while it may be 44 years since their first lap around the pop circuit, the band have lost none of their original zesty spirit – looking back at where you’ve come from, but also as the song exudes, remembering to “Stay young forever!”
Beyond the record and the tour, those adventures continue with further activity in 2026. There is a new Haircut One Hundred documentary planned for this autumn, which is being made by the same award-winning team that produced the BAFTA-nominated ‘Wham!’ film. And expect Nick Heyward’s autobiography to be published by The New Modern before the end of 2026.
‘Boxing The Compass’ is available to pre-order / pre-save HERE. The band’s official store offers an exclusive signed vinyl, while regular vinyl, CD and digital formats are available from all retailers.
Haircut One Hundred’s UK full headline tour starts at the London Palladium tomorrow – limited remaining tickets are available HERE. Stone Foundation will be special guests at all shows except for Poole and Lincoln. Tom Speight performs at Lincoln, while the London Palladium line-up will be completed by a DJ set from Saint Etienne.
The rest of their summer plans are taking shape with festivals, a headline set at Hampton’s Summer Picnic Concerts, and a Trentham Live show as support to The Human League.
