Following a packed summer of festival appearances and the release of their first studio album in 15 years, Hard-Fi have announced The Ordinary Boys as special guests for their three huge UK headline shows this December.
The run will see two defining names from the mid-2000s British indie explosion reunited on the same bill, beginning at London’s O2 Academy Brixton on December 3rd, before heading to Birmingham’s O2 Institute 1 on December 4th and Manchester’s O2 Ritz on December 5th.
The announcement follows an exceptionally busy summer for Hard-Fi, with appearances at Victorious, Kendal Calling, Y Not, Camper Calling, We Are Wirral, Live at Kirkstall Abbey and Stockton Calling, alongside a run of in-store events across England and Scotland.
It has all followed the arrival of ‘Sweating Someone Else’s Fever’, Hard-Fi’s first new studio album since 2011. Released via V2 Records, the record has reaffirmed the enduring appeal of a band who have always existed somewhere between indie rock, punk, ska, soul and sharp observations of everyday British life.
The tour announcement also arrives just days before another major Hard-Fi milestone. September 5th marks 21 years since the release of “Living For The Weekend”, one of the defining singles from Stars of CCTV and a song that remains inseparable from the band’s story.
It’s been 20 years since the band burst onto the scene, delivering iconic albums Over The Counterculture, Brassbound & How To Get Everything In Ten Easy Steps, and spawning Top 10 singles that filled the airwaves in ‘Boys Will Be Boys’, ‘Nine2Five’, ‘Lonely At The Top’ and ‘I Luv U’. 2006 was also the year that saw their landmark Glastonbury performance which included Phil Jupitus joining the band on stage, as well as extensive international touring and chart-topping success.
And with The Ordinary Boys now joining Hard-Fi, the shows bring together two bands whose paths have crossed before, returning to the stage together with more than two decades of songs and stories behind them.
