Summer is only just getting going and Karin Ann has already experienced an adventure of a lifetime by touring Europe as guest to Imagine Dragons, YUNGBLUD and My Chemical Romance. Those shows have continued to spotlight an artist who is beginning to impact in the UK, where she has received airplay from Jack Saunders on Radio 1 as well as features courtesy of Kerrang! and Wonderland.

Now Karin Ann is set to reconnect with some of the fans who have seen her this summer and introduce herself to fresh audiences with her new single ‘you make me miserable’. Watch the official video HERE.

‘you make me miserable’ is a song of dramatic contrasts. Musically it’s as uplifting as it can be, all rattling pop-punk rhythms and effervescent melodies, infused with nostalgic ‘80s pop influences. The subject matter, however, is more nuanced, with the exhilarating rush of new love countered by the realisation that the relationship isn’t quite what it first appears to be. Karin Ann co-wrote and co-produced the song with Matt Schwartz (YUNGBLUD, Halsey).

Karin Ann says, “There was a guy I really liked, we got along super well and he seemed to be really into me too. We were talking for a bit and then after a few months I found out he had a girlfriend, so I decided to write a fun song about the whole thing. There isn’t a deep message in the song, but I think it’s a situation that many people can relate to.”

The video for ‘you make me miserable’ documents the huge outdoor shows that Karin Ann has played this summer. Featuring electrifying on-stage clips and fun behind the scenes footage, the clip has a grainy camcorder-style aesthetic which gives it a fly-on-the-wall feel. And there’s every chance that any fans who arrived early to secure a spot in front of the stage will be able to spot themselves.

Karin Ann adds, “I didn’t really want to do a narrative music video with this song. It’s very upbeat and fun and I wanted the video to have the same energy. I love the people that support me and this is a little bit of a tribute to them because there are some great moments captured in the video.”
