New Zealand based singer, songwriter & producer Lontalius returns with his heartfelt new single ‘Someone Will Be There For You’, released via Kartel.

At only 23 Lontalius (real name Eddie Johnston) has already had a career most musicians would be enviable of. After signing to his Partisan Records (Fontaines DC, Laura Marling) for his debut album ‘I’ll Forget 17′, he went on to collaborate with some of American’s top producers  including OmMas Keith, known for his work with Frank Ocean & Erykah Badu. Through this work, he has become a musicians musician, and counts Lorde, Troye Sivan & Kevin Abstract as fans as well as producing for the next generation of indie-kids coming out of New Zealand and being a successful artist in his own right, with millions of streams to his name.

Now, Eddie turns his attention to ‘Someone Will Be There For You’ his first new music of 2020 under the Lontalius moniker after last year’s album ‘All I Have’. The track is one of his simplest production wise, heavily led with just his voice and acoustic guitar. This stark nakedness however brings to bear the message of the song and the heartfelt lyrics that come with it.

Speaking on the tracks creation, Eddie adds: I’d started writing new songs at the tail end of 2019, and it was bugging me that I kept writing things that felt so insular and ‘diary entry’-like. ‘Someone’ certainly isn’t a step too far away from that, but it was me forcing myself to write something for everyone else. I’ve spent so many weeks of my life feeling like there is nothing and no one out there, feeling like the weight of the world was on my own shoulders. But it’s true, someone will be there for you!

He continues, musically this song felt so simple and it’s message so direct that I couldn’t overload it. I kept the instrumentation as simple as possible. Acoustic instruments recorded in an old 70s studio.”
Lontalius is one of pop’s best kept secrets, and with ‘Somebody Will Be There For You’ and his subsequent releases will surely deservedly announce him to the world.
