Ahead of the 10th anniversary of Prince’s passing (April 21, 2026), Prince’s NPG Records, in partnership with Legacy Recordings, release new single and music video “With This Tear,” a previously unreleased studio recording from Prince’s legendary vault, out now. Listen to “With This Tear” HERE.
Recorded in November 1991 at Paisley Park, “With This Tear” has been newly mixed and mastered by GRAMMY-nominated engineer/producer Chris James, a former Prince engineer whose credits include HITnRUN Phase Two, Art Official Age, and Plectrumelectrum. The track features Prince producing, arranging, composing, and performing all instrumentation. Shortly after its creation, Prince offered the song to Céline Dion, who recorded and released her own version in 1992. This track is the beginning of a number of unreleased Prince recordings scheduled for release this year, as part of a never before released Prince album project.
The release arrives alongside the annual “A Day 2 Reflect | A Night 2 Remember,” held April 21 at Paisley Park, honoring the anniversary of Prince’s passing. The daytime programming includes public tours, a community gathering at the NPG Music Club featuring origami dove-making and a memorial fence, a curated listening lounge, and a candle lighting ceremony at 4:21pm, which will also be livestreamed. Evening events include a special Paisley Park walkthrough tour and a Prince in Concert screening.
It also precedes the upcoming Prince Celebration “10th Anniversary Celebration of Life,” a five-day global gathering honoring Prince’s enduring legacy, taking place June 3–7, 2026 across Paisley Park, and downtown Minneapolis.
Recently announced programming highlights include live performances, exclusive access to unreleased music, rare concert screenings, immersive fan experiences, and panels featuring Prince’s closest collaborators, alongside tributes to the iconic albums Parade, Emancipation, The Rainbow Children, Chaos and Disorder, and 3121. Signature events will include the Downtown Block Party at the Prince Mural, featuring a free, all-ages community Sing-Along on June 6, where thousands of fans will gather for a large-scale participatory tribute to Prince’s greatest hits, led by a live band and mass choir.
