Following a stunning return after 18 months away with ‘Beauty Queen’, one of the UK’s most compelling voices, Sam Tompkins, continues his re-introduction with the immediate, infectious, ’80s-influenced new single ‘Body to Body’. Listen here
Mirroring the way Sam was drawn to nostalgic uptempo music growing up, ‘Body to Body’ overcomes an inner conflict which Sam dubs “British guilt”, that he faced in moving on from his Dad’s passing.
“It’s a song about trying to find that thing in life that really gets you going,” Sam says. “For a long time, I felt like I couldn’t have fun or enjoy myself because it would give me so much guilt. Body to Body’ in particular is about working through that guilt and really finding a new lust for life.”
Already boasting two UK Top 10 albums, over 300 million global streams, more than 3 million social followers, and selling out London’s iconic Hammersmith Apollo as part of three sold-out UK headline tours, Sam has built an extraordinary career defined by vulnerability, connection, and raw honesty. From supporting and performing alongside Justin Bieber to achieving Platinum certification in the US, and Gold in Germany and Italy – his rise has been remarkable.
His 2022 EP Who Do You Pray To and 2024 debut album Hi, My Name Is Insecure cemented his status as one of the UK’s most exciting new artists – both landing in the Top 10. These releases followed the breakthrough success of ‘Lose It All’, a tender piano ballad that challenged outdated ideas around masculinity and vulnerability, and the global viral hit ‘To The Moon’, an unexpected moment with Jnr Choi that dominated TikTok, and has amassed hundreds of millions of streams.
With ‘Body to Body’, Sam Tompkins continues to move confidently into his next chapter – one defined by emotional honesty, renewed energy, and a deeper sense of joy, connection, and self-discovery.
