walt disco share brand new track ‘Don’t Do This Alone’ – a moving highlight from their upcoming, self-titled album, out October 2nd on EMI North. walt disco launched alongside latest single ‘Lies’ (the band’s second consecutive 6Music playlist), having been teased this spring with the thrilling ‘Coup de foudre’, and intimate dates around the UK. With festivals like Iceland Airwaves still to come, further shows have been announced for early 2027, including London’s Colours and a homecoming performance at Glasgow’s iconic King Tuts next January.
‘Don’t Do This Alone’ sees walt disco shift into cinematic territory. Modular synths and swelling choral arrangements frame a personal confession over obsession, and its day-to-day impacts. The track reflects a period of spiralling – drinking, identity struggles, and the overwhelming process of transition – ultimately landing on a simple but vital message: ask for help. Frontwoman Jocelyn further explains, ‘Don’t Do This Alone’ is “a song about the desperation of hunger and want that can eat you up, and the hope that comes from admitting you need help from those you love”.
Set for release next month, walt disco is a fearlessly ambitious alt-rock album that could come from no other band. With a palette ranging from Smashing Pumpkins and Yeah Yeah Yeahs to Cocteau Twins, the album sees walt disco turn years’ worth of graft to their artistic advantage; songs grapple with the disorientation of growing up (amidst gender dysphoria, changing relationships, a volatile industry) but eventually land in a place of gratitude and acceptance. No mere rebirth, walt disco is something harder won: theirs is a continuation, which turns doubt, evolving personal identities and the turmoil of your twenties into art worth living. The irony of ending up with a self-titled album – a band name they almost walked away from entirely – is lost on none of them.
