Music is loved all over the world. There are many styles and directions, but the most significant number of passionate fans have legendary rock music. Perhaps this is due to the aggressiveness of its manifestation, and rock fans behave in a more defiant and flamboyant way. 

Rock is diverse and has a lot of directions. You’ll be surprised, but even Bollywood casino has slots with a rock theme. Having become famous in the XX century, many of the most popular bands gather in whole stadiums. It has a direct bearing on bands such as:

  • Queen;
  • Metallica;
  • Kiss and others.

AC/DC
The founders of this band were two brothers, Malcolm and Angus Young. The band was born in the fall of 1973 in Sydney. The band quickly gained momentum and became popular, making a splash worldwide. The band was promoted by the distinctive voice of the soloist and rousing performance of songs.

Queen

The band is originally from Great Britain. The greatest fame it got in the 70-ies of the XX century and shone to this day. Queen has released five live albums and 15 studio albums during its existence. The bright and charismatic lead singer Freddie Mercury was the main reason for the band’s success. After his death, the band practically stopped its activity, but Roger Taylor and guitarist Brian Mayne still give concerts playing their most famous compositions.

Metallica 

This band appeared in the United States in 1981. They play in the styles of thrash metal and heavy metal. The band quickly went on the rise, and its popularity does not fade to this day. Of all the rock bands, Metallica stands out for its exemplary “metal” performance and has significantly influenced this trend. Metallica has sold over 100 million albums worldwide. According to the authoritative Kerrang magazine, Metallica is the best metal band of the past 30 years.

Kiss 

In the winter of 1973, the band Kiss was formed in the USA. The guys are known for their works in glam rock, hard rock, and shock rock styles. Noticeable outrageousness gives the band stage costumes and extravagant makeup. Their performances with pyrotechnic effects are simply staggering in their awesomeness.

The Beatles

The most influential and famous rock band that brought a tremendous amount of innovation to the development of rock music, more than any other rock band of the twentieth century. They managed to collect all the best in this music and synthesize their unique style, inherent only in them. They were the first to create a self-sufficient rock band and a creative workshop, with the ability to perform all the craziest ideas in one bottle. John Lennon and Paul McCartney were the most distinctive rock directors and expressive rock performers.

When listing the best rock bands of the twentieth century, it is impossible not to mention such leaders of the genre as: “The Rolling Stones, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, the Scorpions, and many others who played their roles in the history of the formation of the rock movement.

Linkin Park

Linkin Park is an alternative American rock band. It was founded back in 1996. The band has won two Grammys due to their success. In addition to this award, Linkin Park has received other awards from American Music Awards, MTV Europe Music Awards – 6 trophies, and Global Leadership Awards for their collaboration with the United Nations. 

Worldwide recognition awaited the band in 2000, thanks to their debut album, which sold very well and achieved diamond status. Today the band consists of Mike Shinoda – vocals and composer; Brad Delson – who is the lead guitarist and backing vocals, David Farrell – he is a bass guitarist; Rob Burdon – drums; Joe Hahn – DJ, also the band had Chester Bennington – lead vocalist, he died in 2017.

Green Day

Green Day is a famous rock band. The cooperative play’s music in the style of punk rock and rock. They were founded in 1987. Their first albums were recorded at the independent Onion Out Records studio, which allowed the band to gain millions of fans worldwide and get them interested in the punk rock style. The band consists of Billie Joe Armstrong on vocals, Michael Durnt on bass, Tre Kula on drums, and Jason White on guitar.

Pink Floyd

Pink Floyd is a philosophical rock band from England. They are famous for their lyrics and original show designs. One of the few successful rock bands in terms of album sales, with 300 million sold worldwide. The rock band was formed in 1965. The band has changed its lineup several times throughout its career, and as of today, the band consists of Roger Waters on vocals and bass, Richard Ride-on on vocals and keyboards, Nick Mason on drums, and David Gilmore on vocals and guitar. Bon Jovi

Bon Jovi is a reasonably well-known rock band in America. The collective was founded in New Jersey in 1983. The band has sold 130 million copies of their song albums and given more than 2,600 concerts worldwide, attracting millions of fans who remain to this day. The collective consists of Jon Bon Jovi, the band’s creator and vocalist – Richie Sambora is considered the guitarist, David Bryan is the keyboard pro, Tico Torres plays drums, and Hugh MacDonald is the bassist.

Guns N’ Roses is a world-famous rock band from America which appeared in the early 1990s. The band became famous after releasing a full-length album in 1987. The success the band could feel by going on tour. Today, the lineup of the band looks like this:

  • Axl Rose is the vocalist.
  • Dizzy Reed is the keyboardist.
  • Tommy Stinson plays bass.
  • Richard Fortus is the guitarist.
  • Ron Tal is the second guitarist.
  • Chris Pitman is the second keyboardist.
  • Frank Ferrer plays drums.
  • Daren Jay Ashba is the third guitarist.

Nirvana

Nirvana is a legendary American rock band. It was formed by Kurt Cobain (lead singer) in Washington State in 1987. Unfortunately, the band did not exist in its original lineup for long, as the lead singer of the crew died in 1994. Nevertheless, the rock band has a lot of merit and awards. The band’s lineup: Kurt Cobain on vocals, Krist Novoselic on bass, and Dave Grohl on drums.

Alice Cooper

Probably the only one on the big stage who can compete in “awfulness” with Ozzy Osbourne. And although his work is often shrouded in myths and media fabrications, Alice Cooper knew how to show the public what shock rock is all about. He became a character in comics and movies more than once.

Manfred Mann

A real old-timer of the rock scene, this native of South Africa is already 75. Since 1971 the virtuoso keyboard player has been the only permanent member of Manfred Mann’s Earth Band, which has brought him worldwide fame.

The band’s albums have reached the top ten of the charts in many countries globally, and individual songs have topped them. A reprise of Ian Thomas’ song Runner performed by the band was used during the 1984 Olympics broadcast.

Ian Pace

He was never the leader of Deep Purple. However, he remained the only one still playing in the band from the beginning – unlike John Lord and Ritchie Blackmore.

Roger Glover and Ian Gillan played in Deep Purple since 1970, but with long breaks.

For their performance at the Rainbow Theatre in London in 1972, they subsequently made it into the Guinness Book of World Records as “the loudest band.”

Despite frequent lineup changes, Deep Purple are considered pioneers and some of the best representatives of hard rock.
