Kendal Calling will be back in the fields once again this July, opening a day early for keen festival goers. Today, Kendal Calling reveals it’s Thursday line-up including Nile Rodgers & CHIC, Scouting For Girls, Black Honey, Gengahr and Rose Gray. Plus, there’s a whole load of incredible world-music to explore on Thursday, taking place at Chai Wallahs www. Along with a stack of unmissable artists, unrivalled entertainment, and fun for all ages, it’s set to be another unforgettable summer in the fields. One of the UK’s most beloved festivals, set in Lowther Deer Park in the beautiful Lake District, Kendal Calling will take place from 27 – 30 July 2023. Nile Rodgers & CHIC will make their anticipated return to the main stage at Lowther Deer Park this July taking Thursday’s headline slot. Nile Rodgers is a Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee, Songwriters Hall of Fame inductee and a multiple Grammy Award winning songwriter, composer, producer, arranger, and guitarist. As the co-founder of CHIC, Rodgers pioneered a musical language that generated chart-topping hits like “Le Freak”, the biggest selling single in the history of Atlantic Records, and sparked the advent of hip-hop with “Good Times.” His work in the CHIC Organization including “We Are Family” with Sister Sledge and “I’m Coming Out” with Diana Ross and his productions for artists like David Bowie (“Let’s Dance”), Madonna (“Like A Virgin”) and Duran Duran (“The Reflex”) have sold over 500 million albums and 100 million singles worldwide while his innovative, trendsetting collaborations with Daft Punk, Daddy Yankee and Beyoncé reflect the vanguard of contemporary hits.

Also kicking Kendal Calling off in rightfully loud and lively style on Thursday are Scouting For Girls, no strangers to adoring festival crowds, bringing with them their timeless sing-along hits She’s So Lovely, This Ain’t A Love Song and tons more. Plus, the Brighton quartet channelling fantasy, escapism, and magical goodness Black Honey, English indie rockers back with their first dose of very welcome new music in two years Gengahr, and the widely tipped club-pop sensation bringing zesty summer vibes Rose Gray.

Chai Wallahs stage returns to the fields this summer, and will play host to its very own Thursday line-up filled to the brim with world music including TC & The Groove Family, Will & The People, The Kubricks, Bare Jams, Tricky Disco as well as Are You Being Served? Ft. Diplomat of Sound DJs. Chai’s unique touring venue has played host to some of the best afrobeat, funk, reggae and hip-hop on the planet over the last 15 years – expect amazing sounds from across the globe accompanied by amazing pizza and atmosphere with the real ale tent right next door.

It doesn’t stop there – Thursday at Kendal Calling will see its very own edition of Rock ‘n Roll Bingo, the UK’s #1 pub music bingo game and a whole new twist on bingo, replacing the standard bingo format with much-loved music clips. Meanwhile, celebrating Thursday’s headliners, festival goers can head to the Oktoberfest tent once the band have finished their main stage set. Party into the wee hours at the CHIC Aftershow Disco – expect pure disco bangers all night long!

Kendal Calling celebrated its belated 15th Anniversary in 2022 with its biggest edition to date.
