Judging by the sea of neon ‘P!nk’ illuminating the walk up to the University of Bolton Stadium, the opening night of P!nk’s ‘Summer Carnival’ Tour, is a big deal. Inside the stadium, the atmosphere is crackling as KidCutUp, Gayle and Irish pop-rock stars The Script warmed up a crowd who, quite frankly, needed absolutely no warming up.

As cliched as it sounds, by the time pop superstar P!nk is about to take the stage, the crowd is bouncing and the carnival has arrived. Making her entrance from the rafters of the stage, P!nk drops forty-foot to the stage exploding into hit single “Get The Party Started”. It’s a spectacular introduction to kick of this European tour and with the sun still beaming down on this sold-out crowd, the party in Bolton had well and truly started.

Strutting about the stage, P!nk is quite simply owning the place. Energetic dance routines, jaw-dropping acrobatics and a raft of banging pop-rock anthems, this is the show that has it all. At the centre of it is P!nk, an artist who knows how to put on an unforgettable experience for her fans. Fireworks fill the air as the hits keep coming as fans singalong to “Just Like A Pill” while one fan has their entire year made when the singer, having noticed the fan in the crowd, wishes her a happy birthday.

Taking to a piano for “Make You Feel My Love”, the tempo drops a bit but the pop-rock superstar soon fixes that powering through a couple of live debut’s in the form of “Kids In Love” and “Irrelevant” while “When I Get There” sees things get very emotional.

“Runaway”, “Trustfall”, more energetic theatrics, P!nk just keeps giving. Sadly though, the opening night of the tour has to end at some point although you get the feeling that both P!nk and this sold-out crowd could happily carry on all night if they could. The show thunders down the home straight to a superstar finale in the form of smash hit single “So What”.

With a second night in Bolton to follow, you get the feeling that a good portion of these fans are in for the long haul coming back for a second helping. For now though, as the song says it’s time to get the party started and P!nk certainly made sure that happened.
