Following a recent rapturous sold-out Brixton Academy headline show, and the announcement his third album, Warning Signs – out January 15th, 2027 via AWAL – AND huge world touring plans for 2027, James Marriott shows no signs of slowing down as he unveils his stunning new single ‘Lovestruck’ – out now.
A driving anthem that explodes into a joyous, technicolour chorus, ‘Lovestruck’ pairs darker, guitar-led verses with an explosive pop sensibility and a poise and venom that strikes to the heart. Capturing the bravado of falling for someone, only to discover they may already be taken, it balances lovestruck vulnerability with James’s ever-present lyrical bite. Sincere and unapologetic, it wears its heart firmly on its sleeve.
“Lovestruck was a song I initially wrote a couple of years ago.” James details. “At first it was a heavier, electronic song with a synth bass; the chorus having “which one of you fuckers wants your bank robbed” screamed over it! The song was shelved for a while until I was listening to “1979” by the Smashing Pumpkins and I thought about revisiting it. The lyrics detail the bravado of meeting someone and the inflation of the ego in such a presentation, only for the possible partner to already be in a relationship with someone that the lead doesn’t think they should be with. I spent hours trying to replace “which one of you wants your bank robbed” but nothing ever hit me in the same way. It feels like a very sincere song to me.”
James will take to the road and make his way through 47 dates across the UK, US & Europe, performing some of the biggest shows of his career, and having sold out numerous dates already, venue upgrades and additional dates added due to phenomenal demand. The tour will include what will be a truly special night at London’s OVO Wembley Arena on April 9th.
