With 50 million streams, Radio 2 airplay and fresh support from Notion and Northern Exposure, Jesse Roper and his brand of indie-Americana and storytelling songwriting is gaining traction in the UK as well as in the States and his homeland of Canada. His international wave of discovery now continues as he shares his new EP ‘Daisy Wake Up’, which includes its title track as its new focus song. Listen HERE.
The ‘Daisy Wake Up’ EP sees the singer-songwriter leaning fully into his rock ‘n’ roll heart. The raw and dynamic six-song set blends gritty blues textures with high-energy storytelling with unfiltered authenticity as he embraces imperfections, instinct and a deep love for guitar-driven music. Whether drawing from blues traditions, classic rock influences, or deeply personal experiences, the result is a collection of songs that feels immediate, lived-in, and built for the stage.
The title track is a raw, rattling back-to-basics blues rocker which rips with driving urgency. That frenzied energy is infused in its lyrical attack too, with an all-action call-to-arms about a man sensing danger in the middle of the night and scrambling to escape. Its distinctive style is the result of an unorthodox moment of inspiration.
Also featuring the recent singles ‘Green Eyed Lady’, ‘Sweet Little Caroline’ and ‘I Love You Man’, the EP is completed by two other brand new tracks. The swaggering rock ‘n’ roll rush of ‘Lady Luck’ charges flamboyantly like Vegas-era Elvis, perfectly complementing lyrics about rolling the dice with the belief that fate will be in your favour. In contrast, the stripped-back ‘I Hope It Finds You’ exposes its emotional vulnerability with a sparse arrangement of vocals, guitar and minimal piano. Written in the wake of a difficult break-up, it captures the subsequent journey from heartbreak to acceptance, leading into the realisation that only you can change your own personal outlook for the better.
