Almost two decades in the game, and armed with an extensive back-catalogue of stadium belters, and record-breaking success, Kaiser Chiefs continue their triumphant return with insatiable new single ‘Jealousy’. The track arrives as another exciting taster from a forthcoming new album – listen HERE.
Produced by Amir Amor (Rudimental), and Lewis Thompson (Becky Hill, Joel Corry, Tom Grennan), and written by Kaiser Chiefs with Lewis Thompson, Henry Tucker (Anne Marie, Aitch), and RISC (Cat Burns, Mimi Webb), ‘Jealousy’ is a joyous punch in the gut. Bold and bright, with an explosive chorus, it’s a statement of intent from a band that continues to deliver the goods again and again.
The new single arrives off the back of roaring success with previous release ‘How 2 Dance’, as well as a big UK arena headline tour at the end of last year.
“We’ve spent the last 20 years making tunes, some have been hits, some have been the opposite of hits,” explains Ricky Wilson. “We’ve always loved ‘em though. It came as a pleasant surprise when ‘How 2 Dance’ seemed to be everywhere. Even on Love Island, which I view as a personal triumph. As a musician, once all the worry and fear of failure is removed, all that is left is the freedom and fun. It’s the reason we started, so I must give you a warning, once you have heard Jealousy, you won’t be able to get it out of your head!”
Recently the band have reeled off a host of note-worthy live-performances, including the Invictus Games opening ceremony, headlining Virgin Radio’s: One Big Thank You show for key workers, and a televised performance for the Queen’s Jubilee celebrations on ITV.
Where 2019’s Duck straddled the tide between Northern-Soul euphoria and early ‘00s antithesis, 2022 sees Kaiser Chiefs stepping into a renewed spotlight; a hook-heightened universe in which Ricky Wilson, Andrew “Whitey” White (guitar), Simon Rix (bass), Keyboardist Peanut and Vijay Mistry on drums, come together to once again create what they craft best; breakthrough belters for the world’s dancefloor.
