Katherine Jenkins has been revealed as the voice of M&S Christmas, releasing a reimagining of the iconic ‘Heaven Is A Place On Earth’ – listen here.
The track is the exclusive soundtrack to the Home of Christmas campaign from M&S. More than a song for the advert, the track creates a musical thread that runs throughout the campaign.
As well as recording the official soundtrack for the advert, Katherine also makes a special appearance as the ‘Fete’ singer.
As one of Katherine’s favourite songs, ‘Heaven Is a Place on Earth’ held a special significance from the very beginning, making it the perfect choice for her to reinterpret in her own iconic style. Nearly 40 years after Belinda Carlisle first released ‘Heaven Is a Place on Earth’, Katherine brings her own distinctive voice to the much-loved classic. For this special reimagining, Katherine assembled a dream team of Fraser T Smith, the acclaimed producer behind Adele’s ‘Set Fire to the Rain’, and Tom Howe, celebrated for his music for Ted Lasso. Together, they bring a fresh perspective to one of pop’s most enduring anthems.
The new single comes after the Welsh mezzo-soprano star brought her landmark 25 Year Anniversary Tour to a close, celebrating an extraordinary quarter-century in music. Marking her first UK tour in five years, the 18-date run saw Katherine perform across the UK and Ireland, treating audiences to some of her most beloved songs, including ‘Time To Say Goodbye’, ‘Jealous of the Angels’ and ‘I Will Always Love You’. Kicking off in Manchester on 2 October, the tour travelled to cities including Liverpool, Cardiff and Birmingham, with a special performance at London’s iconic Palladium, before drawing to a close at Belfast’s Waterfront Hall.
Katherine Jenkins OBE is officially the world’s most successful classical singer, having been named The Biggest Selling Classical Artist of the Century by Classic FM and earning a record-breaking 14 number-one albums since signing to Universal Classics at just 22. She burst onto the music scene in 2003 with a landmark performance at Westminster Cathedral honouring Pope John Paul II, followed by appearances at major international sporting events and at the Sydney Opera House.
Jenkins has sung at many national occasions including Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II’s Diamond Jubilee, Coronation concerts at Buckingham Palace, and her 90th birthday celebrations at Windsor Castle. She has also performed for Popes, Presidents and Princes, further establishing her place as one of the world’s most in-demand classical performers.
