Rising star Ruby Roberts today returns with her infectious new single ‘Magnetic Love’, a sun-drenched rush of romance that captures the irresistible pull of a connection you can’t get enough of. Listen to the track here, out now .
With its playful lyricism and sonic escapism, ‘Magnetic Love’ takes listeners into Ruby’s vividly imagined world of seaside drives and rooftop-down adventures. A love song with a distinctly cinematic sense of place, the track is filled with snapshots of carefree romance, from “toothpaste kisses on a Saturday” to kicking rocks along the beach in a favourite pink dress.
‘Magnetic Love’ is about the all-consuming attraction of wanting someone so badly that waiting is no longer an option. Ruby captures that feeling of being drawn towards someone you can’t resist, building towards the euphoric refrain “It’s a magnetic love, and I need it, I need it, I need it now.”
The track sees Ruby continue to showcase the distinctive storytelling that has quickly become central to her songwriting. Blending nostalgic 2000s references with old Hollywood glamour and dreamlike romanticism, ‘Magnetic Love’ is packed with Ruby’s trademark character, from fantasies of becoming a “passenger princess” to imagining herself as “Lady Diana if she got to the throne”, alongside a suitably swooning Marlon Brando reference.
‘Magnetic Love’ marks another exciting chapter in Ruby Roberts’ evolving sound, pairing her diaristic songwriting with a sense of freedom and romance. Where ‘Bad Girl July’ explored emotional tension and darker corners of her imagination, ‘Magnetic Love’ embraces the thrill of giving in to attraction and following wherever it takes you.
Hailing from just outside Glastonbury and now based in Bath, Ruby Roberts expertly blends influences from David Bowie, to Kate Bush, to Lily Allen with the ambitious pop sounds of Lana Del Rey and Chappell Roan. Despite only releasing her debut single ‘Trampoline’ in April 2025, Ruby has already garnered significant attention both in the UK and US and her fast-growing fanbase is turning heads.
She has quickly amassed an impressive and fervent fanbase over the course of her debut EP rollout. With over 25m streams to date and a recent debut performance at Reading and Leeds Festival as well as a sold out headline UK tour, Ruby’s exciting take on alt-pop is setting her apart from her peers. Her exceptional lyricism and song craft is at the heart of everything she does.
