Passenger has always excelled at crafting music which unlocks emotions in listeners – sometimes sorrowful or heartbroken, at others joyous and uplifting. But with today’s release of his new album, ‘Wild Love’, he presents the most personal collection of songs of his storied career. Listen HERE.
The follow-up to 2021’s ‘Songs For The Drunk and Broken Hearted’ which hit #2 in the UK and went Top 10 across Europe, ‘Wild Love’ tells of big changes in Passenger’s life: a new relationship, a marriage, and – for the first time – fatherhood. It’s a journey that the album documents – the excitement, the upheaval, the trepidation, and the joy.
Passenger – Mike Rosenberg – says, “I wasn’t sure I’d get to have a family. The idea of not having one was something I’d started to accept, but then, lo and behold, it happened. In a really romantic, weirdly Hollywood way. It turned out that the love of my life had been there the whole time.”
The singles that have preceded the album have introduced episodic moments of the broader story. First there was ‘It Was Gonna Be You’, a reminder from previous relationships that what feels good in the moment doesn’t always last. Then there was ‘Boomerang’, a song written back when he was still hoping to find a love that would bring with it an inner peace. And most recently there was ‘Ghosts’, a poignant realisation that you have to fully let go of the past to move on to something new.
The album’s title track and focus song captures the turning point of the relationship. It’s the moment in which Passenger realised he was in too deep to not reach for the fairytale at his fingertips while softly praying that all goes to plan. Backed by spectral, piano-backed instrumentation that grows in stature in tandem with its heightened feelings, he realises the truth of the situation, singing, “I can’t lose this now, so I’ll have to let it win.”
The ‘Wild Love’ adventure continues deep into 2027 with an extensive headline tour that visits the UK, Europe and Australia. Remaining tickets for the dates listed below are available HERE.
