Guy Sebastian has today shared his new soul drenched single ‘Only Thing Missing’ lifted from his ninth studio album and ARIA #1 record, T.R.U.T.H. out via Sony Music Entertainment Australia. Unearthed during a virtual writing session last year, ‘Only Thing Missing’ is a fresh, bubbly nod to Guy’s celebrated ability to seamlessly blend genres, uniting his love of pop and R&B roots to deliver a catchy and sonic Summertime staple.

“I wrote ‘Only Thing Missing’ on a song writing camp in the thick of lockdown. It was one of the first virtual song writing camps I had been a part of so it was a new way to write, which was actually exciting. For this session I was in my home studio in Sydney and streaming online with Trevor and Zaire of The Orphanage, who were in LA.  We started by building the track which was really fun, and we were loving the vibe and verses, but the chorus was taking time to come.”

Guy continues: “At one point I went downstairs to make myself a coffee and as it often does, when I step away from the session, the idea comes. The whole chorus pretty much came to me while I was making a coffee, then we worked off each other to finish the song.”

The exuberant pop smash features on Guy Sebastian’s ninth studio album T.R.U.T.H. which was released in October last year. The album debuted at #1 on the ARIA Albums Chart, making it Guy’s third album to do so alongside ARMAGEDDON in 2012 and JUST AS I AM in 2003. In addition, the album spent an incredible 11 weeks inside the ARIA Top 10 and came in at #4 on ARIA’s 2020 End Of Year Australian Albums Chart.

‘Before I Go’ was the first official single to be released from the album in November 2018 and became the perfect launch for new music from Guy Sebastian. The certified Platinum single achieved #1 radio airplay and spent 15 weeks in the Top 10 radio airplay chart and opened up several new overseas markets for Guy, peaking at #1 on the Netherland iTunes Chart. In May of 2019, ‘Choir’ was released and went on to become Sebastian’s biggest radio single to date sitting at #1 on the radio airplay chart for 6 consecutive weeks. The 4 x Platinum-certified single instantly resonated with fans through its deeply personal tribute, and was crowned Song of The Year at the 2019 ARIA Awards. The third release to be lifted from T.R.U.T.H. was the upbeat smash ‘Let Me Drink’ feat. The HamilTones, before scoring another Top 10 ARIA hit with the Gold-certified single ‘Standing With You’. To wrap up an incredible 2020, Guy released the catchy and sentimental ‘Love On Display’, which arrived in conjunction with a bright, choreographed dance-led video directed by previous collaborator James Chappell.

Although T.R.U.T.H. materialised in spurts – during various sessions with songwriters in different geographical locations across a two-and-a-half-year period – it’s undeniably Sebastian’s most cohesive-sounding album to date. “I feel like every song on the album has really extreme waves of emotion or tension release,” Guy observes.
