Rising Finnish pop artist Tomi Saario kicks off his 2021 today with brand new single ‘Someone Like You’, out now on Four Music (Sony Music). Produced by multi-platinum German production team Hitimpulse (Ellie Goulding, Kygo), ‘Someone Like You’ is Tomi’s fourth offering since he burst onto the scene last year, racking up almost 8 million streams since then.

Filled with infectious pop-hooks and grooves, ‘Someone Like You’ is a flirtatious love song that details the rush and excitement of falling for someone new. Opening with a punchy guitar riff, the upbeat track entices from the get go, smoothly progressing into an earworm of a chorus.

“The inspiration for this song was less about my experiences and more about being inspired musically by a mixture of old and new. To me, ‘Someone Like You’ is like the love child of ‘Sexual Healing’ (Marvin Gaye) and ‘Can’t Feel My Face’ (The Weeknd). I like to think that the future of music can often be found in the past. I also want to give a big shout out to HitImpulse for seeing my vision and making the track sound dope,” Tomi explains

Having fallen in love with blues music aged seven listening to Stevie Ray Vaughan, it wasn’t until he was 17 that Tomi wrote his first song, citing John Mayer and D’Angelo as major influences. After turning down a promising career in football to fully commit to music, he first had to complete military service, which is mandatory in Finland. Following a year in the urban warfare squad, an experience he describes as rewarding and life-enriching, he moved to one of the music capitals of the world: London. Gigging relentlessly, he played over 1,000 shows in four years, turning up at any open mic night that would have him in order to hone his performance skills.

In the twelve months since his debut single ‘Just A Little’, Tomi has garnered support from the likes Rollacoaster, Wonderland, CLASH, Dork and The BRIT Awards, as well as major radio and tv stations across Europe. His Spandau Ballet-sampling previous single ‘Coconut Water’ with French production duo We Are Gold topped the most played list on Virgin Radio, as well as grabbing over 154k Shazams, becoming the second most Shazamed song in France. The latest exciting Scandinavian taking the globe by storm, 2021 sees Tomi Saario ready to take things to the next level.
