After announcing her latest installment of festive treats, Andrea Corr today releases her stunning beautiful new take on the festive classic ‘The Christmas Song’ – listen here.
Originally made famous by Nat King Cole, the track has also been famously performed by Michael Bublé and is one of the best loved Christmas songs of all time. Andrea’s stunning orchestral version has been produced by Anna Rice.
Of the song, Andrea comments; “I’ve grown up loving the magic and old Hollywood romance of The Christmas Song. I was the spying child then and now I’m the mother. To sing it is such a pleasure with the orchestra.”
Christmas 2019 saw Andrea Corr visit Dublin’s Our Lady’s Hospice and Care Services in Harold’s Cross to sing a selection of her personal Christmas favourites. What was an incredibly moving experience inspired her to record and release the stunning Andrea Corr Christmas Songs EP in 2020.
A year later she released her fantastic collaboration with Ronnie Wood, the ‘Blue Christmas’ single. Andrea Corr now announces a full festive album in the shape of The Christmas Album – out December 2nd on EastWest.
‘Next year all our troubles will be miles away,” she sings in ‘Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas’ before adding “someday soon, we will all be together/until then we will have to muddle through somehow.” These words resonate as deeply as they did in 2020.
The other newly featured songs are equally poignant : ‘The Christmas Song’, ‘Let It Snow’, ‘O Holy Night’, ‘In The Bleak Mid-Winter’ and the original ‘Begin Again’ written by Andrea in her unique, veracious style.
“Every record has a personality.” explains Andrea. “ I see this one as a courageous little fighter, incubated by Covid. I hope you enjoy listening to it as much as I have enjoyed making it”
