Following the announcement of their new album Being Human, which comes October 23rd on 70Hz Recordings Ltd, Future Utopia, the innovative musical project led by Grammy-winning producer Fraser T. Smith, have released the album’s latest cut in new single ‘Timebending’ featuring Tim Gent and Ritual Breaks.

A trippy, psyche infused reflection on time, ‘Timebending’ was written in Nashville by Fraser, alongside rising Tennessee genre-blending rapper Tim Gent, and synth-driven outfit Ritual Breaks, featuring former Mutemath drummer Darren King and multi-instrumentalist Cory Hale.

‘I wrote ‘Timebending’ with Ritual Breaks and Tim Gent around a drum groove that Darren played in his wooden clad Nashville studio late last year,” Fraser says of the track. “Tim and I wrote our lyrics around the concept of time speeding up when you’re online. How you’re losing time to the internet and how it seems to slow down when you go off the grid..’”

A sum greater than its individual parts, Being Human is a nine track soundscape exploring what it means to be human in a world increasingly shaped by and reliant on technology. Recorded at Fraser’s Utopia Studio, the album is a psychedelic trip, the album realises the strength in human connection.

Utilising a cast of live musicians sat atop electronic textures, the record blends hypnotic guitars, mesmerising synths and spacey beats.

An album that Fraser had to make, the record leans into human connection and features collaborations with an array of talented artists including Sergio Pizzorno who he co-wrote ‘We Could Be Higher’ with and highly sought after artist Davide Rossi who arranged the strings on ‘Being Human, as well as features from Alysia Harris, Yomi Sode, Niels Brandt and Tim Gent.
